a quick hello

Mr. S printed out all of the lovely comments you've made on here. Thank you everyone!
He also put out an a.p.b. for a powercord for my laptop, and one was provided(as a loan) this afternoon. Hurrah community! Hurrah laptop, and me on couch! I am quite tired of reading and tv, so it is a timely arrival.

I am feeling pretty well. Hoping pea and pod; crocus and snowdrop; fish 1 and fish 2(and, most imaginatively, 'the babies') are snuggling in for a nice quiet gestation.

2 at 1(pm, that is)

We are set for our embryo transfer, at 1pm. Please send warm, positive sticky vibes our way!

We plan to transfer 2 blastocysts. I was pondering asking to transfer 3, but my RE says that since I did get pregnant, they don't want to risk triplets. I agree! Also, she left us a message this morning that 3 had already become blasts, early this morning, so she is hopeful and positive.

The week has been a slow-process of healing from Egg Retrieval. I am starting to feel a little better.

My brother and I had dinner together last night, and he gave me reiki. Between in-person care, and online support, I am feeling lucky. Thank you!

I'll ask Mr. S to post later. I'll be on bedrest(couch?) for 24 hrs.

Thaw and Grow

The transfer went well. I have 5 more hours of bedrest. Mr. S brought me the computer- it is on a little bed-tray. I am only on for updates, as I want to be relaxerton.

The blasts thawed well, the embryologist said they were beautiful. My bladder was super full(they need it full so they can see easily with the abdominal ultrasound). I remembered to bring a sweater and a wrap, so I wasn't too chilly. I got a good RE, she was super friendly and professional. Mr. S was like "that was light years from last time"(when we got the jerky RE for our transfer).
She had me take a deep breath and we watched the transfer take place. My uterus looked like it was all lining, which I guess is good.

Afterwards I laid back, and the embryologist brought in the picture for us, Mr. S will scan it later, and I'll try and post it. I think one was starting to hatch.

On the drive home, I laid the seat back and watched the sky and trees. I ignored the rush hour traffic we got stuck in. I closed my eyes and held my face to the sun and thought growing, happy thoughts. We listened to our IVF mix cd's which are wonderful.

My brother has been staying with us, and he did reiki on me before I left to go to the transfer. I feel much more calm and peaceful than I did last time. I have some more grading to do before I am done with my summer class, but I am not stressing about it.

I was trying to name the blasts, thinking about it while we drove home(it took a long time, dc beltway traffic is awful.)

Here are some contenders:
1. Sun & Moon(b/c one is clearly moonlike(are all blasts?) and the other looks like the sun with solar flares)- could be sunflower and moonflower to match the planty-theme of the blog.
2. pumpkin and squash- to continue the planty theme, two things that are thriving in my garden.
3. Luke & Leia- for obvious reasons(and b/c I was really into Star Wars as a kid)
4. bumble and honey- for the bees that are going crazy in my garden
5. Angela & Jordan(from My So Called Life, Jordan's band is 'Frozen Embryos')
6. or we could just have one name for them both- the little pumpkins, acorns, etc

Opinions?

our bubbly embryos

Yesterday, the embryology lab was out of printer paper(never mind the size of this place, they should have extra!) so they told us they wouldn't be able to show us a picture of our embryos. Now this may sound silly, but I was looking forward to seeing them! After some back and forth talk which ended with me saying, "Isn't there any other way you could show us what they look like?" the embryologist said, "We could try and email them." we relaxed.

But, her earlier words, "We get rid of the images after a day" stuck with me. With no sign of pictures in sight today, my first act of un-bedrest was to call my nurse, my RE(left a message) and explain the situation and ask them to PLEASE get us the pictures.

3 hours later, we got them. I asked Mr. S if I was being unreasonable, and he said I've been more than patient with other issues(nurse forgetting to tell me to drink a lot before ET, no blankets to keep me warm, waiting 30 minutes extra before ET(hello, my bladder was so uncomfortable it hurt to answer questions)).

Now that I have them I don't really know what they mean, but it was a battle I felt like fighting, so I fought it.

Bedrest was uneventful. I only let myself get up to pee, and the second time I did, I walked out to the porch, instead of the couch, and laid on our bench and had a lovely relaxing time. When I lie there I am pretty invisible, I watched birds flying and the light coming through trees. Mr. S went to a local farmer's market to get me my new favorite fruit(heirloom strawberries) and he came home with them, a big bunch of peonies, and 2 crepes for us. May is definitely a good month to be forced to sit still.
