5-ish

Today's beta news- 5.7. My RE is calling it "negative" which means I don't have to go in again. Wow, finally. I have been going in every 2 weeks since 9/15. Ugh. I am so tired of it, but it has become routine, which is surreal and strange.

Yesterday I went to an interview for a job that sounded good(working in an arts based elementary school) but which ended up being really stressful(they had me teach a class, alone, even after I told them it was ill.egal to have me do so(with no adult employee around) and it was very very hard, as it was the class after lunch. The students were unruly, having had a sub all day, and I ended up feeling like my interview was really just a way for them to get a free lesson in(I was called Sunday night to come in Monday)...
So, I came home, frustrated that it is so hard to find a way to make a living, and feeling taken advantage of!

I am determined that I will find some way to employ my talents: education, tutoring, arts, editing, crafts, cooking... to help fund our ivf. Suggestions are highly welcome.

  1. Wow! What a day! Glad to hear the beta numbers are lower! Woohoo!

Now, as for that interview- I cannot believe that! Man alive! Could you pass out flyers and do birthdays or "fun days" with childeren? What about going to child care centers and asking for an arts program to be instilled or giving professional development to teachers who need help in this area?

Just some thoughts off the top of my head.

  2. I am so glad to hear your beta is down. I cannot imagine going through that every week...

That was one heck of an interview!!!

I am a private tutor - found my job on craigslist. I have been with the same family for 3 years and I love it. If you want more info, email me anytime!

  3. I know that your pain is still there but I am so happy for you that the number nightmare is over. It is some consulation prize in an awful sort of way.

As for the interview, it seems totally unrealistic to have you teach a lesson without time to prepare for it. Did they not even observe you? What was the point? It sounds very frustrating.

My brother-in-law is an art teacher at elementary to high school levels. He teaches private art lessons on the side in the evening to small groups and even does art camps in the summer. I think he charges like $10 a session which adds up quickly. Is that an option for you?

  4. these are all good ideas, thanks! I need to start promoting myself. I just signed up with a tutoring agency, so hopefully that will lead to something.

s.e. they observed me for some part of the lesson, but not all of it. Not enough to make judgements on the lesson, in my opinion.

  5. well, let's hope the interview was more than just the free lesson. Although, if they treat people like that, maybe it's not really a cool place to work.
wow, people really had some nice suggestions.
Sending you confident thoughts so you can find a great way to promote yourself! Good luck!

  6. Yay for the 5! At last you can move on!

That would be great if the tutoring agency lead somewhere - seems like it could take you in many directions. Fingers crossed for you.
